RE: Poll results in CD34 Special election
DATE: 2/14/17
Goodwin Simon Research has just completed a base survey for the Jimmy Gomez campaign for Congress in the CD34 special election. The results show Gomez with a massive lead.
Gomez starts with 33% of the vote with none of his challengers doing better than the mid-single digits. The second place candidate was Democrat Wendy Carrillo with just 7% of the vote.
A short memo from pollster Paul Goodwin can be seen by clicking here.
Gomez’s lead is based upon his strong favorabilities (he is 44% favorable with just 4% unfavorable). He is particularly strong in his Assembly District (AD51) which contains 56% of the likely voters.
Gomez leads among every demographic: gender, geography, age, and ethnicity.
Gomez, who was overwhelmingly endorsed by the Democratic Party last weekend, must be regarded as a strong favorite to succeed Xavier Becerra in Congress.
